A Short Horror Story

Chapter 1

I’m Viola. My friends call me Via for short though. Meet my friends, Daniel, Jenny, and Vince. Daniel was the type of guy most girls liked. He was the first one to start a party when he was bored, and ask a cute girl out on a date. He would also dive into a pool off of a  balcony if you dared him to. I didn’t pay much attention to him. One day he asked to come over for lunch and ever since we’ve been buddies. Jenny was a close friend of mine. I’ve known her since preschool. I was pretty much a crybaby when I was little but she was always there to cheer me up. Vince was the type of person who acted really creepy. He liked violence and scary things, but I wasn’t one to judge.

Daniel suggested that we go camping out in the woods. Me and Jenny hesitated but Vince was pumped up. We ended up going anyways. After an hour long time, we set up camp and messed around. We all soon fell asleep inside the tent.

Hours later it was about 4:00 in the morning. It was very dark and hard to see. Suddenly a moan from something startled me. I was too scared to look outside the tent. I shook Daniel. A face then appeared outside the folds of the tent. A creepy smile spread across its face. The skin of the thing was black and looked dry but shiny. Daniel woke up looking grumpy. He glared at me and I pointed to the thing. He turned and saw the face and jumped backwards. Vince and Jenny woke up but the face was already gone.

“The heck was that?” Daniel asked. They both questioned him. “Alright, everyone stay here.” Vince quickly stood up and refused.

”If you’re going I am too.” They both went out to check what was outside the tent. Then they both cursed. Jenny went out to see what happened. A dead girl was known the floor lying in a puddle of blood. Jenny got out of the tent. Then a demonic screech came from nowhere. Sharp black oozing sticks pierced all their ankles and legs. Jenny screamed in pain. They were then dragged away.

I was too scared to go outside, feeling I might die. Creepy black figures walked out and started devouring the dead corpse of the girl. I had no chance of surviving if i confronted them. I pulled out my phone and called 911. I waited until somebody came to rescue me. I couldn’t sleep. Scary doll moans and laughs pondered the air from time to time. After an hour, the black figures left. I exited the tent. There was blood everywhere.

Daniel mentioned before that there was was a couple who had a cabin near the woods. I decided to run to find the cabin. It took me half an hour to find it. When I finally found the cabin, I pounded on the door. A nice lady opened the door and let me in. I was breathing heavily. “Are you okay?” she asked. I nodded and she invited me to join her for a cup of tea. 25 minutes later, the girl looked pale. Then, she suddenly started puking blood. All of her organs came out of her mouth and I was startled. I ran out of the cabin. I looked back at the window. The girl was gone and her organs and everything else was gone too.

I ran out to the road, trying to flag down cars. Soon I was picked up by a car that looked like ours. I got inside the passenger seat and looked at the driver. It was Daniel. I was very uncomfortable then. “Daniel?” The guy looked at me and smiled. I checked the rearview mirror. Jenny and Vince were there too. 30 minutes later, I turned to look back at Vince. He had a gun and was smiling creepily. I turned and faced forward as he shot the glass. Shards of glass pierced my face and I felt blood spill everywhere. I then blacked out.

3 hours later, a rescue team came to get me. I woke up and was covered in bandages. Later after that, I started going to therapy. I felt like if was going insane that month and couldn’t calm down. A year later, I questioned if that ever really happened or if it was a dream.

Hatchet (R.R.)

The book I am reading is called Hatchet. This book is about a boy named Brian who survives an unexpected plane crash and is left to fend for himself in the wild. Brian is a determined kid. He sometimes is caught up in his own thoughts and his past experiences in life, but aside from that, he’s your typical average kid. He seems to solve problems by using logic. Brian finds solutions by making sure they’d make sense and then he does it. He will get worried from time to time, but he mostly likes to focus on the important things. Brian is a very intriguing and interesting character.

Dear Pansy,

I have read the book “Extraordinary,” and have figured out the struggle you encountered. It must be very hard to have lost your friend mentally. I have lost multiple friends myself, but I still keep them in my heart. I am amazed at how much determination you have shown throughout your journey of grief and adventure. I advise you to keep on working hard for Anna. I am sure that she would be very happy with what you did.

Sincerely,

Korine H.

Chapter 1

I woke up in a dark corridor. My head was hurting and I seemed to forgot what had happened. As I rubbed my head trying to relieve the pain, I felt a stream of liquid running down my head, all the way to my neck. When I checked what it was, I noticed it was blood. But why? Why was it blood? I didn’t feel any cuts or bruises. I peered down the dark cold hallway, with the only light being a tiny candle next to my feet. A lighter laid right beside it. I grabbed both of them and stood up.

I touched my neck to find a face mask. It was crumpled and I didn’t seem to have any use for it at the moment. I decided to put it on, just in case. I started walking down the corridor -bear foot- holding the candle in one hand, and the lighter in the other. The floor was made of cold stone, but I could see some blood splatters on the walls. Just as I reached a bloody metal door, I felt something beneath my feet.

There, laid a fresh, bloody dead corpse. It so happened to be a lady I did not recognize. Her lifeless eyes stared at me. They were pale and it looked as if she were about to reach out and grab me. Feeling uncomfortable, I reached for the door handle and grasped it tightly. I pushed the door open with ease and stepped over the dead body. On the other side of the door was a giant room. The floorboards were made of wood and the walls were decorated with roses. There were more dead bodies, but I couldn’t identify who they were.

Their faces were chopped off and some sort of flower would be rested upon it. This murderer seemed to have a brutal idea of what ‘beautiful’ meant. I was shaken when I heard the door close behind me. I heard something whisper in my ear.

“You’re next.” A chill was sent up my spine.

“Who’s there?” I turned around and swayed my hand around, as if it were a knife. I heard my lighter fall out of my hand. There was no one behind me. I couldn’t tell if I was hearing things. I bent down to pick my lighter up, just as I heard a faint clicking noise coming from the other side of the door.

It was like someone was tapping their foot, waiting for me. The noise was louder when suddenly, “CLANK!” Someone, or something, had struck the door with an unimaginable amount of force. I was so startled, I had tripped and fallen backwards. My head crashed onto the floor like a vase falling onto tiles. My head hurt so badly and my vision was blurry. The last thing I remember seeing was something staring back at me. Its eyes were big and the pupils covered most of it. I then blacked out.

Alex & Eliza : A Letter to Eliza (R.R.)

The book that I am reading is called “Alex & Eliza.” I would like to send a letter to Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton.

October 11, 2017

Dear Elizabeth,

I have been reading a book about you and your husband called “Alex and Eliza,” and I am quite amazed. I would just like to thank you for supporting the American troops and helping giving support to the American soldiers. In the book, it mentions how you helped with the inoculation for the pox. You made the soldiers feel less worried by showing up, and helping your aunt.

Without your help, America may have lost the revolution and would not be the same. The amount of dedication and faith you had in the people who fought for us was outstanding and we are very thankful. I hope your legacy will live on.                                                                                                                                                                                          Sincerely,                                                                                                                                         Korine H.

A Nightmare Unraveled (Prologue)

Prologue

The entire town was dark and it was awfully cold outside. It was 10 PM and I was home alone. My sister, Natalia, was sleeping, but I decided to work on an essay that was due the following week. When I finished typing, I shut down my computer and crawled into bed.

As I laid in bed, feeling lightheaded and tired, I stared up at the ceiling, pondering my thoughts. I watched the dim light from the hallway shine through the crack under my door. I was guessing that I forgot to turn all the lights off. I got up to open the door, but as I did, I heard a very particular noise from outside my window. Just as I was reaching for the door handle, a very faint wail came from my side yard. It sounded as if there was some dog crying in pain, but the dog was… possessed. It didn’t sound normal.

I was confused. The only pet we owned was our husky, Cotton. But she was on her doggy bed in my room. I hesitated on opening the door, and drew my hand back. As I walked over to my window, the sound appeared again, clearer this time. I wiped the condensation off my window and peered outside.

Standing in our driveway was a tall slender woman. Her hair floated in an unnatural way, away from her face. However, she didn’t have a face. There was only a cluster of eyeballs looking everywhere on the front of her head. I was alarmed and rubbed my eyes.

I must be dreaming, I thought. When I opened my eyes, she was gone. I ran to Natalia’s room to tell her, but she wasn’t there. The only thing I saw was a trail of blood leading to an open window.

The Trumpet of the Swan (RR)

The book I am reading this week is called “The Trumpet of the Swan.” This book is about a swan named Louis. He was born with a speech defect so he wasn’t able to make noises. Because of this, his father -which was called a cob- went into the city to find something that could help his son. He crashed into a music shop and stole a trumpet, which left lots of people traumatized. When the cob returned, he gave Louis the trumpet. Louis went to a boy named Sam, whom he met as a youth. Sam taught Louis how to play and thus began a great adventure. He started working to pay off his father’s debt and took up the trumpet as a career.
